Facilities: “A Natural Place
for Kids to Grow!”

Camp Waubanong is located on 100 beautiful acres on the side of Govenors Mountain, in West Brattleboro, Vermont. We are nestled on a hillside at about 1500 feet elevation, so on a clear day, you can see Mount Monandock in New Hampshire.

Our main building, Buchanan Hall, was constructed in the late 1960s, and has undergone a series of improvements since then. All walls of Buchanan Hall have large internal shutters and screens, giving it a stunning eastern view, especially at sunrise! Buchanan can seat over 150, and is equipped with tables, benches, and a number of folding chairs, two desks, and lots of space. The full foodservice facility attached to Buchanan Hall features two full size gas ranges, a flat top grill, ovens, an automatic Hobart dishwasher, walk-in refrigerator, and walk-in freezer. Buchanan Hall has a bathroom with a traditional toilet and handwashing sink as well. Around Buchanan Hall is a small three-sided cabin, and behind it, an arts-and-crafts cabin.

Our residential cabins are divided into two groups: Boys’ Side and Girls’ Side. Boys’ Side, a short walk behind the dining hall, has one four-sided cabin with screened windows, three three-sided cabins with built-in bunks, one three-sided cabin with an open floor plan, and one bathroom facility. On Girls’ Side, there are five three-sided cabins with bunks, one four-sided cabin beside the pond, and one bathroom facility. The bathroom facilities have five sinks each, with hot and cold running water, and five stalls with latrines. Camp Waubanong is proud to utilize composting toilet technology in our bathroom facilities!

Between Boys’ and Girls’ Sides, there is a concrete showerhouse with hot and cold running water and four stalls on each side. Also, a nurses’ cabin and two other four-sided cabins sit adjacent to the showerhouse.  A large fire ring is located just beyond the nurses’ cabin.

Down the hill from Buchanan Hall, a large field often serves as a gathering place and game field. Set to one side is our swimming pool and poolhouse, a fenced-in facility that, during summer sessions, is locked when not fully staffed. Our pool runs roughly from 2 to 6 feet deep.
