Camp Waubanong
Special Programs
Horseback Riding Program (ages 8-14)
For an additional fee campers can participate in an hour-long equestrian clinic each morning at nearby Southmowing Stables. Lucy Bump, owner and operator, teaches Centered Riding as well as horse care and grooming. Interested campers must register separately for these lessons on the registration form.
Leadership Training Camp (ages 14-16)
Leadership Training Camp offers older campers a fun and challenging opportunity to develop and use leadership skills. Participants will build communication skills, learn to mediate conflicts, make responsible decisions, and facilitate group activities. There will be many opportunities to practice and use these skills while at camp. Although the emphasis of this program is on teaching leadership skills, participants are still campers and are able to enjoy lots of their favorite camp activities. It is highly recommended to attend this session if you would like to be a CIT someday.
Counselor In Training (ages 16-18)
The CIT program is a terrific way to learn many valuable skills, especially if you want to be a counselor! CITs work closely with counselors and other staff to help plan and lead activities, guide cabin group development, enforce camp policies, and much more. This program is free to the participants, however it does require a job application and interview with the director. There are limited spaces available and it will be at the discretion of the director to decide which applicants are suitable for the available positions.
